I don’t have any time before work to have a real morning routine. I wake up at 4:50, get ready, and I’m out the door. So evening routines have become very crucial for me.
I don’t do all of these things every night, but I do make it a point to do all of these at least once a week.
I love a good calm evening, but sometimes it’s hard for me to shut off my brain and start relaxing.
Here are some of my favorite ways to be intentional with my evening to help me relax and unwind:
Once a week on Sunday, I take a bath. This is a time for me to relax with some essential oils, use my coconut oil salt scrub, light a candle and unwind. I enjoy reading, watching a show, drinking some hot tea, or whatever else I’m in the mood for that night!
An amazing way to de-stress is to turn on a calming YouTube video. Then I like to lay on my bed with my feet up against the wall.
That pose is amazing for circulation, relieves tension, aids in digestion, sleeping and more!
If your bed isn’t against a wall, lay on the floor and put your feet up against the wall. Add a pillow under your back for extra comfort. Start doing deep breathing exercises. This is the first step for me to start relaxing. Take in the music. I go through all of my body parts and think about making all of them relax. Sometimes I don’t realize how tense I am until I do this.
Once I’m relaxed, I’ll start thinking about everything that I’m grateful for. All my blessings in life. Not everything in life needs to be going perfect for you to be happy. This is something I have struggled with, but I’ve realized happiness comes from within.
After that, I’ll tell myself positive statements about myself or my situation. This gets me excited for the next day for what I can accomplish. It makes me feel good about myself and truly puts a smile on my face.
I hope that my routine sparks some ideas for your evening routine! Let me know in the comments what your evening routine looks like.
